Work with our newly constituted Affordable Housing Trust (RAHFT) to ensure that Rockport arrives at and begins to deploy a plan to attain the State mandate of 10% of our housing stock being deemed “Affordable”, thus putting the Town in “fair haven” status, outside of the grasp of hostile 40B developers. I look forward to working with the Housing and the Finance Committee to explore ways to increase affordable Housing in ways that do not increase new building, such as funnellling a larger portion of the taxes on AirB&Bs and VROBs into the Affordable Housing Trust, which currently receives only 3% of these monies. We must retain local control of the change that our Town is undergoing. My goal is to enable the town to achieve Safe Harbor status , ultimately seeing 10% of the housing in Town categorized as “affordable” according to the HUD definition.
